Red Velvet Donuts
Baked red velvet donuts with a sweet cream cheese glaze. Want the donut with a little less guilt? Here you have it.
Ingredients
Red Velvet Batter
- 2 cups Flour
- 1 ½ cups Brown sugar
- 2 tsp Baking powder
- 3 tbsp Cocoa powder
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 Egg
- 1 cup Buttermilk
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 6 tbsp butter
- 2 tsp Red food coloring
Cream Cheese Glaze
- 6 oz Cream cheese
- 3 tbsp Butter
- 2 tbsp Milk
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 3 cups Powdered Sugar
Instructions
Red Velvet Batter
- Dry Ingredients: Start by sifting flour, baking powder, brown sugar, salt, cocoa powder into a large mixing bowl. Make sure to break apart all the clumps of the brown sugar.
- Wet Ingredients: Mix buttermilk, egg, butter, vanilla extract, and food coloring until smooth.
- Combine dry and wet ingredients until smooth.
- Oil donut baking tray and put batter into a piping bag. Pipe the batter into the trays.
- Bake at 350° for 10 minutes. Set aside and let fully cool down before glazing.
Cream Cheese Glaze
- Whisk together cream cheese, butter, milk, vanilla extract until completely smooth. Slowly whisk in powdered sugar until all lumps are gone.
- Dip donuts into glaze and top with sprinkles or additional frosting
