Red Velvet Donuts

Baked red velvet donuts with a sweet cream cheese glaze. Want the donut with a little less guilt? Here you have it.

Ingredients

Red Velvet Batter

  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1 ½ cups Brown sugar
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • 3 tbsp Cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 6 tbsp butter
  • 2 tsp Red food coloring

Cream Cheese Glaze

  • 6 oz Cream cheese
  • 3 tbsp Butter
  • 2 tbsp Milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 3 cups Powdered Sugar

Instructions

Red Velvet Batter

  • Dry Ingredients: Start by sifting flour, baking powder, brown sugar, salt, cocoa powder into a large mixing bowl. Make sure to break apart all the clumps of the brown sugar.
  • Wet Ingredients: Mix buttermilk, egg, butter, vanilla extract, and food coloring until smooth.
  • Combine dry and wet ingredients until smooth.
  • Oil donut baking tray and put batter into a piping bag. Pipe the batter into the trays.
  • Bake at 350° for 10 minutes. Set aside and let fully cool down before glazing.

Cream Cheese Glaze

  • Whisk together cream cheese, butter, milk, vanilla extract until completely smooth. Slowly whisk in powdered sugar until all lumps are gone.
  • Dip donuts into glaze and top with sprinkles or additional frosting
