Homemade Dog Birthday Cake
I have done a ton of research looking for dog birthday cake recipe and have found that most of them contain flour or sugar, which should be avoided for your furry friends. So 4 years ago I came up with this meatloaf birthday cake, filled with a ton of nutritious veggies, covered in a pumpkin and peanut butter frosting!
Meat Loaf Cake
- 1 lb Ground beef
- 1-2 Carrots
- 1 Zucchini
- 3 strips Bacon
- ½ cup Shredded or cube cheese
- 1 egg
- Dog treats or dog food for border
Optional:
- ½ tsp Cinnamon
- ¼ tsp Oregano
Frosting
- ¾ cup Pumpkin
- ½ cup Peanut butter
Meat Loaf Cake
-
Preheat oven to 350°
-
Grate carrots and zucchinis. (Save ¼ cup of carrots for cake topping) Sweat out the zucchinis by adding a generous amount of salt and let sit for about 10-15 mins. Pressing out the excess water with towel.
-
In a large mixing bowl, add ground beef, carrots, zucchinis, cheese, egg and seasoning. Mix well until fully combined.
-
Grease baking pan. Pour the mixture into pan and pack/press to a flat even layer.
-
Bake in oven at 350° for 1 hour.
-
Let cool down completely and drain any excess fat.
-
Put into fridge until firm. *TIP: Can put into freezer for 1-2 hours to speed up process if making in one day.
Frosting
-
Mix pumpkin and peanut butter until smooth and frosting consistency.
Assemble
-
Get a serving plate and carefully but quickly flip pan over so that the bottom of the cake pan is facing upwards.
-
Frost cake and smooth out sides/top.
-
Create a border around the top and bottom of cake with dog treats and dog food.
-
Top with grated carrots and chopped bacon bits.
-
Serve and watch your pup devour the cake!
